Shirkat Gah – Women’s Resource Centre (Pakistan)

Shirkat Gah is one of Pakistan’s leading women’s rights and feminist organisations, established in 1975 to promote gender equality, social justice, and women’s empowerment. It began as a voluntary women’s collective and has grown into a national resource centre focused on advocacy, capacity building, research, knowledge dissemination, and policy engagement to advance women’s and marginalized communities’ rights across the country.

The organisation works with grassroots groups, civil society, government bodies, and international partners to influence laws and policies, strengthen women’s voices in public life, and challenge gender-based discrimination and violence. Its programs include leadership training, safe spaces for women and girls, legal awareness, and participation in global frameworks such as CEDAW and the SDGs.

Shirkat Gah also produces research, policy briefs, and educational resources on gender rights, reproductive health, and violence prevention to inform stakeholders and support systemic change.
